Early Ensemble Music

Would you only want to eat one food or only wear one color shirt for the rest of your life? I would not. I would like diverse, tasty food with depth of flavor and expansive colors in my life. I share this same philosophy with music as well.

As music educators, we try to program contrasting pieces of music to give our students a wide repertoire vocabulary, so the concert doesn’t sound like one song in different keys.

My question is: how different are the songs if most, if not all, of the music is in major tonality and duple meter (4/4)?

I am currently working on a collection of music in diverse tonalities and meters. Colorful pieces of music that truly sound different from one another harmonically and rhythmically, offering audiences refreshing musical worlds they may never have explored before attending your concert.

Let’s program diverse tonalities and meters together.

For now, here is a song I arranged in Major and Duple... lol
